RoadTax is a free, browser-based strategy game. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Information We Collect

RoadTax is designed to work without requiring user accounts. We collect minimal data:

• Player Name — A display name you optionally enter when joining a multiplayer room. This is not stored permanently and is only visible to other players in your current session.
• Game Session Data — Board configurations, moves, and game state are exchanged between players during multiplayer sessions. This data is transient and is not stored after the session ends.
• Connection Metadata — Standard server logs (IP address, timestamps) may be recorded by the hosting infrastructure for operational and security purposes.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not require or store email addresses, passwords, or account credentials.
• We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.
• We do not collect payment information — RoadTax is free to play.
• We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.

4. Local Storage

RoadTax may use your browser's local storage to remember user preferences (such as your last-used player name and display theme). This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

5. Multiplayer Connections

When you join a multiplayer room, a WebSocket connection is established to coordinate game state. Your player name and in-game actions are shared with other players in the same room. No other personal information is transmitted.

6. Third-Party Services and Hosting

Hosting and Cloudflare: The website is hosted through Cloudflare, and we use Cloudflare Workers for our multiplayer backend. When you play online, your chosen player name and game state are sent to Cloudflare Workers to sync the game with other players. Cloudflare acts as our Data Processor (Auftragsverarbeiter) under a Data Processing Agreement (AVV) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. This processing is based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and fast service (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR) and for the performance of the multiplayer service (Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR).

Fonts: We host the "Public Sans" font locally on our own servers. No data (such as IP addresses) is transmitted to Google or other third-party font providers when the font is loaded.

Analytics: We use Google Search Console for search performance optimization, which operates without setting tracking cookies on your device or collecting individual user behavior.

7. Children's Privacy

RoadTax does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since no account or personal data is required to play, the game is suitable for all ages.
